2016 LBJ School study reexamines competitiveness in the title insurance industry

Building upon the title insurance study conducted by UT’s LBJ School of Public Affairs in 2011, David Eaton, Ph.D and Ms. Xue Gao revisited the topic of title insurance competitiveness.Armed with more data from various nationwide

sources, including the US Housing and Urban Development, Bank of America, and Stewart Title; they found that Texans were paying some of the highest rates in the nation for title insurance due to the lack of competition in Texas’ title insurance market.
