“Republicans in Texas should support school choice. When I left the Democrats and joined the Republican Party in 1989, my decision was driven in large part to the principles laid out by President Ronald Reagan. He knew that character counts and competition makes you stronger. These two basics are true whether we are talking about public officials, athletic teams, or business. Freedom, including the freedom to make your own choices and the freedom to compete, is something Reagan Republicans should always embrace. Texas Republicans now face a time for choosing if they stand with parents or not. I will strongly support those Republicans who stand with parents.”
